COLD SPRING July 10, 2023 - A historic storm hit the Village of Cold Spring and its surrounding areas on July 10, 2003, with over 8 inches of rain falling from Sunday afternoon until late evening. Crews responded to 25 alarms including automatic fire alarms, basement pump-outs, gas leaks, multiple elevator rescues, mudslides, trapped residents, and numerous other flooding condition calls. Cold Spring Fire crews responded across Philipstown, Nelsonville, and Cold Spring with Engine 13-2-1, Brush Truck 13-3-1, and Cars 13-1-1, 13-1-2. and 13-8-1. Cold Spring Fire crews worked diligently to ensure the safety of residents during this dangerous storm, with our firehouse becoming a shelter for community members and visitors trapped in Cold Spring. Crews remained on call at the station until midnight, returning the next morning to respond to additional automatic alarms and pump-outs.
