COLD SPRING, December 12, 2023 - Cold Spring Fire "drills" every Tuesday evening to inspect our equipment and engage in training sessions covering individual, crew, and company-level skills. Our latest drill focused on forcible entry or door breaching, conducting drills individually and in pairs using the North Highlands Fire forcible entry simulator. Utilizing a Halligan, a flat-headed axe (a set of irons), and a wedge as their tools, firefighters trained and demonstrated proficiency in gaining entry into a structure by breaching a simulated industrial door.

Firefighters may need to breach a door in various emergencies, such as gaining access to a building during a fire or rescue operation. These skills are crucial for ensuring swift and effective responses when time is of the essence. We thank North Highlands Fire for generously permitting us to use their forcible entry door. Kudos to all who participated for their outstanding efforts!
