Before Cold Spring Fire elected our first Chief officer in 1950, we had Foremen and Captains. Foremen led the Company from our founding in 1896 until 1930 and fulfilled the roles of both the Chief and the Company President. Beginning in 1930 the Company elected Captains and Presidents, with Captains having similar responsibilities as today’s Chief Officer and the President leading the administrative functions of the Company.
