CSFC responded with 13-3-1 and 13-8-2 to assist with the rescue. Members entered the woods from Canopus Beach alongside State Park staff, Philipstown Ambulance, and Kent FD personnel.

Upon reaching the patient, responders assessed their injuries and secured them in a rescue litter for removal from the trail.

The section of the Appalachian Trail where the patient was located was particularly narrow and rocky, making the extraction difficult and requiring careful coordination among all responding agencies. Despite the challenging terrain, the patient was safely removed from the woods without further injury to the patient or rescuers.

CSFC would like to remind the public to exercise caution when hiking and to always come prepared. Appropriate footwear, suitable clothing, and awareness of trail conditions are essential to reducing the risk of injury. Wet, slippery, and uneven terrain can be especially hazardous, even for experienced hikers.

Please hike responsibly, know your limits, and put safety first.
