CSFC responded to an injured hiker in the Hudson Highlands state park. This is the view from the Cold Spring Fire Company base command which shows just one part of the operation that took place.
On calls like these the command serves as the coordination point for the response, helping manage communications, track crews and resources, and coordinate the efforts of the multiple agencies working together on the incident.
Cold Spring Fire Company worked alongside North Highlands Fire Department, Philipstown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and the New York State Parks Department to provide assistance to a hiker in need. Crews continued working into the evening and until dark to ensure the patient received the care and assistance needed and was safely brought out.
Calls like this require communication, coordination, and teamwork across agencies. We appreciate the mutual aid and cooperation of everyone who worked together on this response.
As fall weather is now upon us and leaf peeping season has begun, we would like to remind everyone who wishes to use these trails to plan accordingly. Wearing the correct attire and knowing the route you wish to use will greatly reduce the need for our services. Mountain rescues can be extremely time consuming and dangerous to both the patient and rescuers entering the woods.
