At our July monthly meeting, we awarded the first George Stevenson Scholarship for Arts and Service to Haldane graduate, Oliver Petkus. Throughout his life, Oliver has found opportunities to share with others and bring people together through music and performance. He will use the scholarship towards his upcoming jazz drum studies at SUNY New Paltz. 
 
We are honored to have the opportunity to provide this scholarship over the next 9 years in the name of fire company member George Stevenson.  The gift of his artwork allowed the company to raise over $10K, which will be awarded to a graduating Haldane senior who embodies the values that the Cold Spring fire company represents – volunteerism, leadership, community service, and protection and care for our neighbors – and who plans to study art in college.  We celebrate the impact art has had on George’s recovery, and the impact George has had on the Cold Spring community.
