COLD SPRING, January 11, 2024 - Cold Spring Fire Company's swift and effective response contained a potentially dangerous situation on Thursday night. At approximately 9:25 PM, emergency services were called to a brush fire perilously close to a structure behind a Main Street business. The first unit on the scene, Car 13-1-2, arrived at 9:27 PM to discover the reported brush fire was, in fact, a trash fire that had alarmingly extended to the nearby building. The blaze had climbed the side of the structure, reaching the roof. Following closely, Engine 13-2-2 arrived, with firefighters quickly deploying a hose line from the front bumper. They initiated immediate fire suppression efforts, while others conducted overhaul operations to prevent further spread. Thanks to the rapid and decisive action of the responding crews, the fire was successfully knocked down, and all units were reported back in service by 10:00 PM. The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this stage. Units at the scene included Cars 13-1-1 and 13-1-2, Engine 13-2-2, Battalion 19, and Cold Spring Police Department (CSPD).
